Help(ful hands) Wanted:
The Montessori School of Huntsville is seeking an individual to work 20-30 hours a week in the afternoon/evenings to manage our facility. Tasks include daily cleaning of our school, minor maintenance, and some groundskeeping. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team member who takes pride in his/her work and believes in the value of education. Perfect position for someone who is available after 3pm and wants to work part-time. The Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance , minor groundskeeping and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that school buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.
Able to lift 45 pounds
Has positive attitude and is determined suitable to work around children by DHR
Follows and completes the school’s daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule. These duties include, but are not limited to:
Collect and bag all uncollected garbage and recyclables from classrooms, placing in proper receptacles.
Vacuums all carpeting daily.
Sweeps and mops classroom floors daily.
Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, fixtures, light switches, and door knobs daily.
Maintains cleanliness and appearance of foyer and hallways as needed.
Refills paper towel, tissue, toilet paper and hand soap in all dispensers.
Changes light bulbs or other minor maintenance issues, as needed
Minor groundskeeping including gardening, weeding and occasional care of chickens
Reports the following to the Head of School, or designated staff person:
Participates in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as requested.
Attends and participates in school’s pre-service and in-service trainings.
Performs other duties as specified in job description addendum or as assigned.
