Primary III November Blog

We had an exceptional Thanksgiving Feast last week! Thank you to all the parents who brought fruit for the salad. The children enjoyed creating hats and necklaces, preparing the food, and sharing it with the other classes.

We had our first nature walk with our kindergarten students. They were so interested and excited to explore the world outside.

In November, we learned about leaves and why they change colors, Thanksgiving traditions, and the continent of Australia.

We celebrated and learned about Diwali, the festival of lights. For our study of Diwali the children made some artwork called a Diya. The children tried on traditional Indian clothes, and all the children loved it. They also had fun making ‘puri’ (fried bread) and eating it. Thank you to Avi’s mom, Aruna, and Grandma Durga, for sharing their Diwali experiences, tradition, and food with us.

In December, we will learn about festivals and cultures around the world. Some parents are interested in giving presentations about how they celebrate their family holidays. We will share the presentation schedule as soon as we finalize it. More parents are welcome to join in, if they are interested in sharing their family traditions with our class. We will have our holiday music program on Friday, December 20 in our classroom, cook some traditional holiday foods, and study Antarctica this month.
