Hello everyone! It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of our first semester.
Last month’s Thanksgiving feast and the related activities were so much fun. It has been such a nice opportunity for us to observe the little ones growing day by day physically, mentally and socially. They truly love one another and love to do activities together as a team. We are really proud of our children.
This month we are doing holiday related artwork and cooking with the regular Montessori curriculum. Our holiday program will be on December 20th at 9:00 am in our classroom. The children have worked very hard and cannot wait to perform for you!
On behalf of our Toddler II Classroom, we wish you happy and joyful holidays.
We are in Autumn! Thanksgiving is right around the corner. November is all about the harvest, watching colorful leaves fall from the trees, and getting ready for the cold season. This month we are expanding our food vocabulary by tasting different snack foods. We are also learning more about leaves by observing, raking, and creating artwork with them. Thank you to Tracy (Karston’s mom) for giving us a rake that is just our student’s size. Leaf raking work is very popular in our classroom. Our Thanksgiving feast is on November 26th. Thank you so much for signing-up to bring food. We really appreciate all you do for us to make every event joyful. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

The Toddler II Classroom is very busy these days! We are raising caterpillars right now. The children have been observing them since they were very young, and now they are each forming their chrysalis. We are all learning new things and having fun watching them grow.
Last week was the Diwali celebration, which is a Festival of Lights in India (where I am from.) We have learned about Diwali in class and cooked a traditional sweet dish to try called Halowa. They children really enjoyed tasting it.
The children are exploring new things everyday. It is a pleasure to see them grow.
Our Toddler 1 class is abuzz with fall activity. This month’s thematic unit is All Things Fall. The highlight of our month was our annual field trip to the pumpkin patch. The children loved petting the farm animals, playing in the corn crib and picking their very own pumpkin. We will continue our unit by making paper bag pumpkins and painting with pumpkins in art. In science we will be studying the life cycle of the pumpkin as well as learning the different parts of a pumpkin. We would like to thank everyone for their gifts from our Small Hands wish list. The materials purchased by you will be put to good use by our children. Also, thank you for bringing in items for our Heartwarming Chili. Cooking the chili in class and then eating it at the Fall Festival is a great treat.
Our toddlers continue to learn and grow everyday. It is amazing how much they are truly capable of when they are given high expectations and the chance for independence. Please continue to encourage your child to dress and undress themselves with as much minimal assistance as possible. This is the first step towards readiness for potty training.
As always, thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or concerns.
October Happenings in the Toddler 2 Classroom
We began October with the lovely occasion of Grandparents and Special Friends’ Day. We all enjoyed it so much and were so pleased to meet extended family and friends. This month, we will observe the different colors of leaves and different shapes of pumpkins. On October 14, we will take a field trip to Tate Farm Pumpkin Patch. Afterwards, we will carve our class jack o’ lantern and work on an art project using different kinds of leaves.
Children’s Sharing Night will be on Tuesday, October 22, and Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Friday, October 25. You will receive more information about both of these dates soon.
Thank you to those who have returned Tate Farm’s permission slips.
